There are generally two types of pet cremation available: Individual Cremation and Communal Cremation.

What Is Communal Cremation?
Communal cremation is where multiple pets are cremated together at the same time. Because pets are cremated collectively, it is not possible to separate the ashes, and as a result ashes are not returned to the owner.

If you choose not to have your pet’s ashes returned, we still carry out an individual cremation. In this case, the ashes are respectfully scattered on our private countryside land, providing a peaceful and natural resting place.

If my Pet has Passed Away at Home – Here is some helpful information

Losing a pet at home can be emotional, overwhelming, and deeply upsetting. Everyone reacts differently, and there is no right or wrong way to feel or respond.

What to Expect
When your pet first passes, you may find it difficult to touch them straight away. Some people wish for their pet to be collected as soon as possible, while others prefer to spend some quiet time with them. Both responses are completely normal.

You do not need to take your pet to a veterinary practice. If your pet passes away at home, Beloved Pets can collect your pet directly from your home and care for them with love, dignity, and respect.

After your pet has passed away, they may still show signs that can feel unsettling, such as:

• Small muscle twitches
• Air being released from the lungs
• The release of bodily fluids or gas
• These are natural physical processes after death and do not mean your pet is still alive. Knowing this in advance can make it easier to cope if it happens

If you choose to remain with your pet for a period of time, they should be kept in a cool room, ideally for no longer than 24 hours. You should also be aware that rigor mortis, the stiffening of muscles and joints can begin anywhere from 10 minutes to 3–4 hours after passing.

We understand how difficult this time is, but where possible we recommend not waiting longer than 24 hours, as natural changes to your pet will begin after this period, which is why making gentle aftercare arrangements is important.

What You Can Do

• Place something absorbent underneath your pet, such as a towel or pad, and gently wrap them in a blanket.
• If possible, move your pet to a cool room until collection can be arranged.
• Try not to place your pet on carpets or sofas, as fluid leakage may cause staining.
• Place a puppy pad or a towel beneath your pets tail and mouth to protect flooring and furnishings.
• If your pets legs are stretched out and have not yet stiffened, you can gently fold them closer to the body. This can make movement easier and helps your pet appear peaceful and at rest.
• If you have other pets, they are part of the family too, so allowing them to see or smell their companion can help them understand what has happened and support their own grieving process.

When you are ready, either contact us or you can arrange your collection online if you are finding it difficult to talk. No. Beloved Pets can collect your pet directly from your home or from your veterinary practice, so there is no need for you to transport your pet yourself. However we do have a drop off facility if you prefer but you must contact us to arrange this

We will collect your pet and take them to our Crematorium, where they are prepared for individual cremation. We handle every step with compassion, dignity, and respect.

Yes. You are very welcome to send a small personal item, such as a favourite toy, to stay with your pet throughout their journey.
Please note the following important details:

Toys will remain with your pet and will not be returned unless you tell us at the time of collection.

We are only able to accept pet beds that are clean and unsoiled. Any suitable beds received will be donated to local pet charities and will not be returned.

If you have chosen to be reunited with your pets ashes, they will be ready within a few days following their individual cremation.

We take the time to carefully prepare your pets ashes and complete your remembrance pack to the highest standard, ensuring everything is handled with the love, care, and attention your pet deserves.

Yes. At Beloved Pets, we are able to cremate all domestic pets. We specialise exclusively in the cremation of domestic pets, ensuring each animal is treated with dignity, care, and respect throughout the process. This includes pets such as dogs, cats, and other common household companions.

Yes. In the UK, it is possible to bury your pet at home, as long as certain conditions are met. Home burial can be a meaningful choice for some families, but it’s important to ensure it is done safely and responsibly.

Key things to be aware of:
You may bury your pet only on land you own. The burial site must be within the grounds of the home where your pet lived.
The grave should be deep enough to prevent disturbance, generally around 2 feet deep in heavy soil and 3 feet deep in lighter soil.
The burial site should be well away from water sources, underground pipes, cables, or drains (at least a few metres).
A veterinary professional must be satisfied that there is no risk to people, wildlife, or other animals.
Your pet should be placed in a waterproof covering, ideally positioned carefully and comfortably, such as in a gentle sleeping position, and wrapped in a blanket.
If burial cannot take place straight away, your pet should be kept cool, ideally below 4°C, until arrangements are made.
Marking the burial site with a plant, pot, tree, or memorial stone can help prevent other animals from disturbing the area.

If burying your pet at home is not right for you, Individual Cremation with Beloved Pets is also available and can be arranged with love, care, dignity, and respect.

All cremations take place at our own Licensed Independent Pet Crematorium and are carried out individually. We provide an Individual Certificate of Cremation for every pet, and each cremation is fully recorded in our detailed cremation log.

For the wellbeing of families at what is often a very emotional and distressing time, Beloved Pets does not offer witnessed pet cremations.

We have found that allowing families to remember their pet as they were, rather than experiencing the cremation itself, is often the kindest and most supportive approach. Every pet is treated with love, care, dignity, and respect throughout their final journey.

It is entirely up to you. Your pets ashes will be returned in the memorial item you choose, such as a bespoke urn, casket, or scattertube. You may decide to scatter your beloved pets ashes in a meaningful location or choose to incorporate them into our Memorial Jewellery range.
