What to Expect
Before your appointment, we will speak with you to understand your situation and the reasons you are considering Home Euthanasia, so we can help you make the arrangements that feel right for you.
When the vet arrives, they will gently introduce themselves, talk through your decision with care and sensitivity, and ensure that home euthanasia is the kindest option for your pet. You will be asked to sign a consent form prior to the euthanasia, and the person providing consent must be over 18. The visit is carried out calmly and respectfully, giving you the time and space to be with your pet throughout.
Appointments typically last around 30 minutes, allowing for a peaceful and unhurried experience in the comfort of your home.

Quality of Life Assessment
Thinking about Pet Euthanasia but your not sure its the right time?
We know the most difficult decision you ever have to make is if it is "the right time" As pets grow older their needs naturally change. Mobility becomes more difficult or painful, and long-term illnesses or age-related conditions can begin to affect their daily comfort. In some cases, administering medication or managing ongoing treatment may also become challenging or costly. Even routine trips to the vet can cause significant stress or discomfort for your pet.
We have created a free quality of life assessment for your pet, please use it as many times as you need - But PLEASE remember it should only be used as a guide to help you and you should never make the decision based solely on this. This is totally free - you do not have to register or leave any personal details.

Anxious or Aggressive Pet?
To provide the safest and most compassionate experience, please let us know of any behavioural concerns (such as fear, anxiety or aggression) before our visit. This allows us to prepare appropriately. Additional time, support, or medication may be necessary in some cases.
Aggression can often be misunderstood and it may be that your pet is showing signs of pain, fear, stress or anxiety not necessarily aggression. On occasions we may have to discuss handling strategies in advance to minimise stress and ensure the process is as calm and peaceful as possible.
Aggressive Pet Euthanasia is a very delicate area, all possible solutions need to have been explored by you before making the decision to Euthanise. We recognise how emotionally challenging this can be for owners—particularly when the pet may still be young or otherwise physically well.
We do not judge the circumstances that have led to this decision. Our role is to support you through this process with understanding, respect, and professionalism.
It may be that we are unable to provide euthanasia should you have not explored all other options before speaking with us.
If you would like to talk through your situation in confidence call us on 01200 401070 or WhatsApp Message us on 07538 929237
Sedation
Your pet may feel a small pinprick as the sedative is given. In many cases it takes effect almost immediately, although it can take a little longer for pets who are particularly robust or dehydrated. The attending vet will guide you through this process always ensuring your pets comfort and dignity.
On rare occasions the Vet may advise that sedation should not be used. In cases like this there are many reasons they may suggest this, please be assured they are qualified professionals and they will explain the reason to you.
These moments are yours to share with your pet, knowing they are free from pain and peacefully drifting into a deep sleep.
The vet will either step back to give you some private time or remain quietly nearby. Nothing is rushed, and you are given all the time you need.
The Euthanasia Injection
The second injection is only given once your pet is in a deep, comfortable sleep. It is an anaesthetic that allows them to pass gently and peacefully, without any awareness.
Once sedation has taken effect, the vet will choose the most appropriate approach based on your pets individual needs. This may involve administering the injection into a vein or, in some cases, placing a small catheter. As fully qualified and experienced professionals, our vets will ensure the process is carried out as smoothly and calmly as possible.
Your pet will be completely unaware at this stage, and the vet will guide you through what is happening with care and sensitivity. If you find the final moments overwhelming and need to step away or look away, that is absolutely fine. Everyone experiences this differently, and we are here to support you in whatever way you need.
What to Expect in the Final Moments
When it is time for the final injection to be given, your pet will already be in a deep, peaceful sleep. There will be no pain, and the vet will gently let you know when they have passed.
Please don’t hesitate to ask any questions during this time. We understand this may be one of the hardest moments you will share with your pet, and you do not have to hold anything back. Our team is here to support and care for both of you.
